View Full Version : Interesting question for lowered gurus....

Ok so as it stands my truck is already lowered but as any addict can agree...There is no such thing as low enough. Now Ive had my eye on a djm 3/4 kit for a while now and there is just one or two things stopping me. 1. Ease of operation when it comes to ramping for alignment, dealership work etc....2. funky ass roads down here... Ive driven lowered cars, but my truck seems to have a goofy wheelbase as well as a great deal of length and excess that can grab and snag behind the rear wheel.

my question or questions are as such. 1. What is your prefered method to getting a lowered vehicle on automotive ramps like you would find at a dealership or alignment rack etc. 2. What things would it be easier to look out for when driving with such a low drop with bodykit etc? Truck is fairly new but I want the drop so i figured id ask a few people who knew what was up you know? Thanks....

As she sits now...

Bag it, and you can raise it and lower it how u feel. Put some good shocks on it and u won't miss a good ride. You can still tow with bags as well, u will just have to change up how you mount them.

Well bagging was an option but with my kid and wife outta the job etc, thats not a valid option at the moment. ... I thought about boards as well but would like something that I could fit in the bed when I needed it and a 12 foot board wouldnt fit in the back lol

Wait for it to be an option. You don't have to go all out on bagging this thing, it doesn't have to lay body or lay frame you can just bag it to get the ride height you want at all time and then maybe a little lower or a little higher whenever you want.

If you want to lower it do it right the first time and do what you want the first time to get it right. Nothing wrong with watching your pennies if it is something you really want.

As far as the crappy roads go, just be careful and you'll be fine. Everyone doesn't wanna lower because "OH MAN THE ROADS ARE BAD!" but honestly as long as you're careful you won't have a problem at all. I have the pleasure of driving the 240 through New Orleans on the way to UNO. Just take the right roads haha

Well the issue is only its my daily and depending on what jobs I work at, i have to drive the shitty roads lol. Im more worried about shop work and parking garages than anything...

and to the post above.....

well another option was to get the 3/4 drop, and have bagging as a "raising option" I just dont want to do it twice -laugh thanks for the imput mang

As long as your careful, driving a lowered car down here isnt as bad as everyone puts it. Yeah you have to swerve over bumps, etc. but who cares?

I'd save up and do the bags. The roads do suck here and I like the ability to drive my car where I want, when I want.

Thanks for the compliment, but i just keep getting that "disgusted look" when your tired of it how it is and want a change. If I could find a good place to get it bagged for a fair price I may be so inclined to save. Im just weighing out the options as well as issues with normal everyday driving. Thanks guys....s/c will come before the bags though boost is your friend!

I would say just ask around and see where people get their bags done

I wouldn't bag an xrunner at all.BUT if you were to bag one I have had work done by Dave at a small place called Delux metal works , also in the site posted above a screen member by the name of popeye dose nice work or so posted on the forum.Best bet would be for you to buy the parts you wanted , brand and size of bags ,tank/s,and comps then bring all the parts and have someone install them for you.

A bigger wheel and tire package would let you get the wheel centers farther up in the truck while still allowing for a little more ground clearance.

I vote no on bagging that particular truck.

well, If I did go with bigger wheels again, Id go no larger than the 20's....Keep it close to oem as far as tire sizing etc. It's only further complicated due to being the daily. I will problably just drop it, test out the waters and if i dont like it, I can always just take it off and keep the notch on there. the djm on this truck looks so aggressive I just keep dropping my jaw on that shit man. Thanks guys

You need bigger wheels to pull off the look you're looking for.

Just be careful with the type of drop kit and dont trust "stylintrucks" reviews.. I bought the 3/5 drop (came with tubular lower control arms for the front) and i regret it. Took a bunch of spot welds to stop the coil from spinning, the holes in the lower carrier weren't lined up perfectly for shocks, and I spit the bumpstops out on i-10 not too long ago. :banghead:

Imo, the djm "pro drop" kit is a 4/10 on quality and fitment (for Dakotas, at least)
Personally, id either bag it or go for high quality spindles. Then run composite leafs

Stance is clean indeed but I would look into bigger rims, yeah I know pricey but hey it fills the gap.

I'm working on a new set now and , I sold my other set of 20" wheels. I had some of the 335's and they filled in the wheelwell nicely but man I didn't like the "nonfitment" of the big brake kit :banghead: I didn't like the idea of a spacer either. To be honest I may just go with some 19's, 20's are show and Im more into the performance aspect.

also the first shot is a comparison of the djm 3/4 drop with the bsp truck and mine being 1.5 front/2 in the rear. I keep some weight in the bed so it droops a little giving me the raked look. I love it, but I'd love to go lower.
