Well, this is the 3rd time this car has sat for over a year. This time its been sitting for 2 1/2 years!!!
But it can't be too long now!!!

Its a billet 5.4 with race ported navi 4v heads, GT cams, sullivan lower, sheetmetal upper, etc.etc. MPH built the custom 67 kit.. the 67s have 76 wheels, 3" downpipes..

Not sure exactly. He still has to do the coldside, then put the battery in the trunk, and drop the tank and put a liner in it. then break in and dyno.

thanks guys

this will probably sound like a silly question but, what was the reason with the turbo's being off centered with the block? easier to run the piping? just the way the kit was made?

just curious

Killereclipse
02-25-2009, 11:29 PM
it seems like that is the only place that they would fit without too much modification. But what is interesting to me is that radiator hose that is passing between those down pipes, you might want to see if you can wrap it in header wrap or maybe switch to aluminum piping or something.

WOW!!! over 3 1/2 years, i would of said screw that shit by now. (He said this time has been 2 1/2 years and twice before of atleast 1 year.) Should be pretty damn nice when its done. Is this gonna be a track car or a street car?

this is just a street car.. Ill take it to the track maybe a couple times a year.. but with the 5spd its pretty limited to the highway and interstates I would imagine.. One day when I feel like spending anymore money Ill go with the turbo400 to pull the wheels up high.

you could do the T56. those things stock will take a shock torque rating of over 600ft/lbs

Any recomandations on a NOLA region machine shop to bore and deck a 4.6 block? Maybe one that has a plate for the 4.6? How about a machine shop that you would trust with a set of 4v heads for a valve job, valve guide change and decking?

Super bad set up you have their!!!

thanks. I had a motor built at Shreves in Kenner.. While the motor did last at 815rwhp, I thought the price was really high and they lost my flywheel and said the motor didnt have one when I brought it to them.
I would recommend you buying a forged shortblock from pro-line race engines, and ship them your heads.. they build the longblock for you..

not much of an update, but Tim said he will get it cranked up before the end of the month. they still have to install the new 2 step and a couple of other things..
On the first its going to paint for a authentic full saleen body kit with center exhaust, along with completing the color change to HOK majestic pearl blue.. hes shaving all emblems, antenna, key holes, etc.
After paint it goes back for dyno and street tuning.

All coldside and hotside is done.. they dropped the tank and lined it.. replaced the big fuel lines, etc. its getting real close!

I figured I would at least post 1 pic..

well it makes 3 years in august.
I go to college full time at UNO and work full time too.. I commute over 2 hours a day and have a wife, so Im not rich, but I wanted to do this combo the right way..
Ive been through tons of power adders and motors so I did it right and saved.. this motor and turbo setup cost much more than the car cost brand new.. :D

acadianasportscars

-Will

TT32V54
08-10-2009, 12:09 PM
well I have the built 5spd right now, and Im sure itll hold the power as long as I dont powershift, but I know it wont be anywhere near as fast as the auto..
My plan was to stick with the manual until later down the road..

The aod's arent strong enough..

I have two options when it comes to autos and thats a powerglide and a turbo400.. My builder, MPH, doesnt like to use glides for street cars, so Ill most likely go with a fully built turbo400 if I do go auto. But damn, thats another large chunk of change!

my240sx4u

TT32V54

i say powerglide :D
Well there are many advantages to a powerglide like the weight and the lack of shock to the tires, but for the most part Ive heard they arent street friendly so Im gonna go with a bulletproof turbo400, when I do go auto.

iamdat
08-10-2009, 12:32 PM
a th400 really isnt all that streetable in the sense you cant drive it to the beach and keep a nice cruising rpm. how much power is the car supposed to make? built aod's and 4r70w's have powered cars WELL into the 9's

TT32V54
08-10-2009, 12:37 PM
Ya I have a e-friend, lol, that has a similar setup as mine and he was runing a 4r aode and constantly breaking it..
His car just recently made 1277rwhp through a robberglide, :).

A aod isn't an option for me.

I will never drive this car across state lines or anything like that.. Its just a toy, not a means for transportation.

Turbo400 has 3 gears, thats enough for me :).
Several other e-buds have turbo400s and they are mostly street driven. They love this transmission.

TARZAN
08-10-2009, 12:42 PM
What about a glide with a gear vendors?

And just remember, they put glides in stock street cars for years ;)

-Will

TT32V54
08-10-2009, 12:48 PM
gear vendors are like $2k I believe. maybe 1500 or 2500.. the glides and turbo400s im lookin at are about $6500, so I dont really want to add a gear vendor ontop of that bill at the moment..
maybe down the road..

LOL. i didnt know they put glides in stock cars!

Yeah, the powerglide was originally a GM OE trans :)

$6500 is a bit steep for a glide...How heavy is your car? I know the turbo car I helped build made 1300ish through a sloppy glide and it didn't have that in it.

Gear vendors isn't cheap, but its damn handy ;)

-Will

TT32V54
08-10-2009, 01:29 PM
im guessing my car should be about 3300lbs which is probably on the heavy side for a glide, but do-able..
the 6500 includes everything, down to the bolts.

the glide and turbo400 are about the same price, but ya I think the turbo400 better suits my needs.
It should be a bad ass street ride.. Thats mainly what it will be, however Im sure some 8s wont be a problem with seat time, and many track visits since they will kick me out for not having a parachute, etc.etc.

thx guys. i will continue to update this thread.

tgunsg35
10-01-2009, 09:30 AM
1000whp in a 3300 curve weight car is going to be radical on the street period. If I was in your position, I would start diving it with 8 psi of boost and work my way up. I'm sure you already figured this out, but I'm just sharing my opinion.;) Can't wait to see the dyno chart on the 20 psi map it should be a beast.:)

TT32V54

idk if they can use the actual gt block b/c its set up for dry sump oiling i know they can be converted but idk if ford would do that or just manufacutre a new block made for a wet sump oiling system all we can do i keep our fingers crossed for a TT coyote motor. hopefully shelbys contract will expire and the collectibitlty of ur car will go up way up

i just read modular powerhouse is going out of buisness or moving up north i should say. how is that effectingyour car getting done that sucks man. it seems like a big job like that would have alot of bugs to work out before u get the car what u gonna do if something breaks and mph is no where to be found. good luck speaking from experience i got screwed on a deal like this when my lightning was at a speed shop in texas and they moved the truck never got done and i had to finish it myself good luck hopefully u have better luck than i did

They are merging with Normans.. Opening up several stores.. One in Florida, one in chicago, and one out west I believe..
My car is done, save the race tune and paint..
The pump was rebuilt, but kept going lean at 690rwhp so that pump was scrapped for another.. As soon as my painter is done with the car, Tim is going to fly back down and complete the race tune and any other issues there might be..

BTW the painter is in Georgia and he has painted several show cars that have been on covers of mags. Very, very good painter imo.

For the body, Im having my painter do the following..
Shaving key hole on drivers door, antenna, emblems..
Painting a couple of pieces under the hood like the inlet piping..
Prepping body and authentic saleen kit-install/fixing all dents and scratches
The saleen kit includes front bumper, side skirts, side scoops, wing, and the center exhaust rear bumper, which I plan to run the chicane center exhaust.
I have to get a new hood too, prob HO Fiberworks or whatever its called.
The color change will of course be completed with House of Kolor Majestic Pearl Blue.

i hear its a pita to get a saleen kit to fit perfect but being u talked so highly of ur body man iam sure it wont be a problem. i love the center exhaust good choice. u think it will crack the 1000 rwhp mark? i dont see why not. wow mph moving to chicago is mind blowing but i guess they have a chance to expand their buisness opertunity. do u have a plan set in place if u have any problems with the car when u get it back to avoid having to ship it all the way to chicago if there are any bugs to work out

Ya I have heard that the saleen kit is hard to fit, but I do have confidence in this body guy so Im sure it wont be a problem.
I also LOVE the center exhaust.. looks soo sexy!
1000rwhp has always been my goal.. it should make it pretty easily.. MPH did another car, a 281 with smaller turbos and not nearly as stout of an engine and it made 1089rwhp@24psi..

Im not exactly sure what Im going to do if a problem develops after I get it back.. Im thinking either Murillo or HPP. Tim said there arent any bugs, and when he comes back to finish the race gas tune he will make sure again.

Im looking forward to getting this car back, if its only to sit in the garage so shes not sucking the money out of my bank account.

ive heard great things about hpp with modulars. when u mess with a car enough it seems like bugs will always be a problem but best of luck to you cant wait to see it in action. i hope to see it against some of these supras that post up on here and seem to own all in the local race footage

alright your talking about glides and turbo 400s? why not a turbo 350? and who ever is building you a glide for 6,500 is ripping you a new one. I have 14 glide housings in my garage. you can buy the housing all day for 150 to 300 bucks.

I tell you what man send me what you want your trans like and Ill get you prices for it and if you like it Ill get my guy to build it. or better yet just tell me what hp/tq your trying to make and we can set it up.

You have made me miss my old fox body with a 408 and eaton blower.

iam pretty sure this guy doesnt wanna go the glide route as i beleive its gonna be a street car. iam with you though totally on 6500 for a glide but iam sure he was quoted from MPH with the bellhousing adapters and shifter relocation for 99- mustang etc etc.... plus he would have to get it retuned after the install im sure he has waited long enough just to switch trans and wait another 6months for his car just my opinion i could be totally wrong

TT32V54

THX. When I quoted those prices, that was for a full swap.. everything needed.. on race gas its gonna go 7k+rpms probably.. 1100+rwhp/rwtq.. 1500 for swap alone..

thanks

Its 1500 for the conversion alone, labor only.. so thats 5k for every single part..
Im sure I could get a turbo400/parts for a lot cheaper, but I doubt they could withstand 1200+hp..

Either way it doesnt really matter..after i get it back im not doing anything to it for a long time..

im actually not really excited about the car.. not really feeling this hobby anymore but im stuck with it.. id lose my ass if i tried to sell it. hopefully ill be more excited when i jump back in it..

Nope. He'll be at or close to 100% duty cycle with 86s unless they crank the fuel pressure through the roof. And i doubt that would even be enough.

well it probably could make 1200rwhp at 100% duty, but I didnt say 1200rwhp.. i said 1200hp..
They did make 1100rwhp with 75s, but those were definitely at 100%.

and ya this is of course a return style fuel system.

Return is better suited for an application like his.

I was on the fence before going the fore route.

im not even sure if that was out at the time i went return style, but from everyone Ive talked to, I felt much more safer runing return style.

Alright.. The car is almost done for real this time. LOL.
All body work has been done... Original saleen body kit with center exhaust and H.O. 4" cowl hood(yes it was needed) installed..antenna and all emblems shaved.. all dents and scratches fixed,etc...
It's painted House of Kolor Majestic Pearl Blue.. Clear coated.. now they have to wet sand, then more clear.. wet sand and buff for another week..
Then she goes on the dyno with race gas..
Its been a long journey.. Hopefully it ends soon..

edit: pics are supposed to be posted today.. Ill post as soon as I get them.
